Baptism commentary
Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Yeshua Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Acts 2:38 Peter has stood with the eleven and as they are witness to what he says he gives us a threefold plan of salvation. He tells all of us to repent which is to reconsider or change ones mind to turn from sin and toward God with our heart not just our mouth. Then he says and be baptized even every one of us. He tells us to do it in Yeshua name and it is not a question would you. He is saying do it. Next he tells us what we are doing it for The remission of sins, which is the removal of sin or forgiveness or liberty of sin or pardon from it. And then shall we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Later that day 3000 gladly received his word and was baptized meaning they were immersed in Yeshua name. Acts 2:41
Act 8:16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Yeshua.)
In acts 8:16 it is clearly telling us they had been baptized in Yeshua name but had not been baptized of spirit as of yet.
Act 10:47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
Act 10:48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
Clearly in Acts 10:48 these were baptized in Yeshua name. Notice he commanded them to be baptized. He did not suggest or ask but orders there baptism.
Act 16:33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.
These here were baptized that same hour to surely suggest to us that once we have turned our heart we must not make haste but to go right away and get baptized in case he comes today. This also clearly is showing us that without baptism our outlook would be bleak. Notice that even though they did not have batteries like we do today yet they went out and were baptized after midnight.
Act 18:8 And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.
If baptism is not necessary as some suppose then why are all these in our bible so concerned with baptism?
Act 19:2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
Act 19:3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.
Act 19:4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Yeshua.
Act 19:5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Yeshua.
Act 19:6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
Paul asks these 12 men that were John’s disciples If they had received the Holy Spirit and they answering him saying we have not so much as heard there be any. He immediately asks what the baptism used was and they said of John’s baptism and he immediately has them baptized in Yeshua name and also notice he did not wait a few days or hours they did it then and there.
Can we be baptized incorrectly? Yes these men’s hearts were right but baptized incorrectly.
Act 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
Now if you can understand what this verse says it is saying that baptism is going to wash away your sins as soon as you quit tarrying and arise and be baptized.
1Pe 3:20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
1Pe 3:21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Yeshua Christ:
Above are scriptures from Peter that absolutely prove that we must be baptized. The proof is so good that the writer which is believed to be Peter has said that baptism now saves us and not the putting away of the filth of the flesh meaning you cannot simply turn to god with your heart and believe and be saved when he comes for us.
Next I am going to show the breakdown of the scripture 1st Peter 3:21
1Pe 3:21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us(“””””””””) by the resurrection of Yeshua Christ:
(not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,)
Rom 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Gal 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
Yeshua also commanded us to be baptized himself in Luke 24:45-47 he told us to do it in his name.
Luk 24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
Mat 28:18-19 also teaches us Yeshua name baptism
Mat 28:18 And Yeshua came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
The above scripture is absolutely speaking of a singular name. To clarify this I will now show a couple of scriptures that prove it.
Joh 5:43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
Eph 3:15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
What name did Yeshua come in.
Mat 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name YESHUA: for he shall save his people from their sins.
Notice he shall save his people and notice the name he came in.
Mark 16:16 also is Yeshua ordering us to be baptized.
Mar 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
2Co 11:2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.
When a man and woman are married she takes her husbands name. The bride is the church and Yeshua is the Groom. How did you take his name. Were you buried with him in baptism in his name?
Rom 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Gal 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
Col 2:12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
Some have said faith alone saves them, but I choose to believe God’s word.
Jam 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
Jam 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
Jam 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
Jam 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
The scriptures say salvation is a gift and it requires no works. They usually use these next scriptures.
Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
It is truly a gift and I ask you if a rich uncle left you a million dollars and it was totally free you might still have to get in your car and drive to the attorneys office and sign some papers but it is still free or a gift. God does require of us the obedience to his commandments like acts 2:38.
Some people have built plans of salvation out of singular books of the bible like for instance some have took John 3:16 and said this is the plan just believe and you will be saved forgetting that he is speaking to a man named Nicodemus who had came to see him by night and that he has just said just few seconds earlier that you would not even see the kingdom if you were not born of water and spirit. Look up what "born of" means.
The truth is he means we must be regenerated by the baptism of water and also by spirit.
Even some have used Romans in our day to find an easier way to be saved. These just look at chapter 10:13
Rom 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
I have printed the first verse above and the following verses after so that I may show you why you cannot just take one verse out of context and place it where you like. originally these verses were just books and it was up to the reader figure out where this particular subject starts and ends but in this case of the above verse it is easy to see the beginning or at least toward the beginning and the author tells us next that how can we hear whom we have not believed and to hear we need a preacher. To find out how to call we need to dig and find out just how to call and not to forget that Yeshua himself told us to be baptized. Peter later repeats this and all who believed in the bible were baptized accordingly.
Now see the continuation of the scripture below to see why taking a simply verse out of context will not reveal anything.
Rom 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
Rom 10:15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
Rom 10:16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Rom 10:18 But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.
Rom 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Act 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
All scripture must be looked at in light of other scripture!
In conclusion to this page. Yeshua was baptized and he told us to be born again by water or we would never see the kingdom or heaven. He commanded us to teach baptism and to do it. He gave Peter the keys that were handed out at Pentecost which is recorded in Acts 2:38. All the scriptures point to Yeshua name baptism, all believers in the bible were baptized in Yeshua name with the exception of the 12 of John’s disciples which were required to be re-baptized in Yeshua name.
Therefore proving that there are incorrect formulas. Did you repent? Have you been baptized the bible way? Have you received the Holy Spirit baptism? Do you want to be saved? Think about it! Your soul depends on it. Our God is the one just God and he will condemn us if we do not obey him. I wrote this because I love all Brothers and sisters. I may not know you but I still love you. May God grant you the truth before it is to late? It is later than it ever has been.
One last thought is that so many have brought it to my attention by saying "What about the thief? Did he get saved? Is Yeshua a liar? the answer to all this is very simple. The thief died under old law not grace, he died before the resurrection of Christ, therefore he died under the old covenant. God never lies.
